Authors at Castle Bromwich Library

‘Anne and Annie a tale from two Brummies ’

Come along to Castle Bromwich Library to listen to two well known local authors Anne Bennett and Annie Murray talking about their different lives and personal experiences of Birmingham.

Anne Bennett

Anne Bennett was born in a back-to-back house in the Horsefair district of Birmingham. The daughter of Roman Catholic, Irish immigrants, she considers herself to be an Irish Brummie and feels therefore that she has a foot in both cultures. Her novels include A Sisters Promise, Walking Back to Happiness and To Have and to Hold.

Annie Murray

Annie Murray’s first job took her to Birmingham and in 1992 she began writing her first Birmingham novel, Birmingham Rose, which was a Times bestseller. She has written many more highly successful novels including Birmingham Blitz, Birmingham Friends, The Narrowboat Girl, Chocolate Girls, and most recently The Bells of Bournville Green.
