‘Academy Live’ is back this June with another helping of sizzling new talent from around the UK. Four bands from Liverpool, Birmingham, Sheffield and Newcastle head out on the ‘Academy Live’ tour with each act headlining the Academy venue in their region, and playing a London showcase on Monday 9th June at Bar Academy Islington.

Now on its third lap of the UK, Academy Events announces another outstanding line-up for ‘Academy Live’ this summer with Soft Toy Emergency, Zut Alors, Suzi:Won and The Headliners catching the eyes of the Academy Events promoters.

“‘Academy Live’ is giving us a great opportunity to get our music heard outside of Liverpool…” explains Jennifer Davies of Soft Toy Emergency. “We’re really excited to be part of the tour and can’t wait to see what’s in store for us after it!”

In July 2007, Academy Events launched the first ‘Academy Live’ to support regional artists, offering them the opportunity to play to new audiences in new regions and benefit from a showcase in London. Former bands on the bill have included Templeton Pek, Showing Off To Thieves and Elle s’appelle, all of who have since received numerous accolades in the media and attracted a wider fan base.

It's key that we focus people's attention on emerging talent and with the backing of Academy Music Group and its venues, we can do just that" says Academy Events promoter, Jon Wing.

BANDS

Soft Toy Emergency are creating a buzz around Liverpool as loud as their guitars and take the reigns when ‘Academy Live’ hits Liverpool. They were picked to play a live session on BBC Merseyside, kicked off the party at Liverpool Music Week 2007 and join current cool kids Hadouken! and Crystal Castles at the opening night of Liverpool Sound City 2008.

Tom, Dave, Joe and Aaron have known each other since they were in their teens and in 2006 began writing for what would become Zut Alors. In the last twelve months the band has impressed with opening slots for Manchester Orchestra and Scouting For Girls and after a winter penning new material they top the bill in Birmingham for ‘Academy Live’.

Suzi:Won’s much awaited first EP, ‘Only Dancing Girls’, sold out almost immediately leaving fans eager for their upcoming debut album. Hailing from Newcastle, the five-piece get ready to inject some life into the world of indie-rock and bring plenty of synths and crazy keys to ‘Academy Live’.

Sheffield favourites, The Headliners, have already caused a stir in their hometown and it looks like soon they'll always live up to their name! They’ve shared stages with the likes of Mark Ronson, The Pigeon Detectives and The Maccabees and were crowned winners of the ‘4Unsigned Competition’ in 2007, awarding them a live set at Channel 4’s T4 On The Beach.
