On Thursday 24th July 2008 there was a Public meeting in the Irish Club at 7pm. The purpose of this meeting was to feedback to the community and to get feedback from the community around the 2008 Festival and Parade. It was also planned to look at the future structure of the Festival as a company and to listen to ideas for the 2009 Festival and Parade.
The meeting was very well attended – approximately 50 people gave up their Thursday evening and came along. It was disappointing that there wasn’t any representation from the local media.
The audience listened intently to James Fitzpatrick from the Digbeth Trust who outlined the various options that are there for a company like the Festival. For example should the Festival become a charity? Or should it remain as a company or should it become a mixture of both? – a charitable incorporated organisation. The Festival Directors will be looking closely at all the options over the coming few weeks.
If anyone would like to comment please contact Karen on karenbarry22@yahoo.co.uk It is planned to have another public meeting to update the community on the progress – details to follow.
The meeting was a very positive event with many great ideas for the 2009 Parade and Festival coming out. There was a lot of discussion around the floats and the need to develop these to become more visually appealing. The Festival plans to link in with schools and youth groups to encourage this. If any schools or youth groups would like to get in touch then please contact Karen on karenbarry22@yahoo.co.uk

I couldn't make it to the meeting that day. But I have started on a new website for them at http://www.stpatricksfestival.co.uk It's a voluntary thing, so it'd be nice to get any feedback or suggestions for what people would like to see on the site.
