Fire crews save Goose trapped in ice

A goose trapped in a pond covered in ice was relieved to be freed by fire crews yesterday

Firefighters were called to the incident at a pond at Black Hall Farm, near Black Hall Lane, Fillongley at 11.15am yesterday. Specialist equipment including inflatable walkways was used to free the goose that was trapped in the pond by a piece of wire, which was tangled around its foot.

Crew Manager, Brian Littler said: “The goose had been trapped in the ice for some time and was becoming quite distressed. We used the inflatable walkways to assist with the rescue and once out the goose was thoroughly checked over by an officer from the RSPCA. It was great to see that despite the ordeal the goose was fine and was able to be released somewhere away from theice.”
Crews from Rugby and Nuneaton were involved in the rescue.
