Invitation to a Fabian Seminar in Birmingham

‘Public Attitudes to Poverty and Inequality’

Speaker: Evan Harris MP

Date: 11am-12.30pm, 23rd July 2009
Venue: Maple House, 150 Corporation Street, Birmingham, B4 6TB

The Fabian Society and Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) would like to invite you to the Birmingham seminar examining two new reports supported by the JRF: Understanding attitudes to tackling economic inequality by the Fabian Society.

The new research from the Fabian Society identifies what motivates the public’s beliefs and attitudes to inequality. The work also considers measures the public supports to promote fairness and what conditions are needed to tap into this support. This goes beyond previous work which has tended to focus on revealing attitudes rather than explaining them and considering their implications.

This event will include a presentation of the project’s findings and it’s implications for anti-poverty campaigns followed by a discussion with the panel and audience about the local politics of anti-poverty campaigning and the implications of the findings for communications strategies and anti-poverty policy in different regions of the UK.

The event will be held on 23rd July at Maple House, 150 Corporation Street, Birmingham. Please forward this invite to any other members of your team of practitioners, those with direct experience of poverty or any other organisations you think might be interested in attending this discussion.

Please RSVP (acceptances only) to katy.taylor@fabian-society.org.uk

I do hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you there.

All best wishes,

Katy Taylor
Events Assistant
