In search of the elephant graveyard - latest update

I am writing with regard to an item recently reported in the Gazette about an elephant buried in Coleshill.

At the time of it's death, my father was working for the Warwickshire County Council and helped to excavate the pit for burial. This was on land between Birmingham Road and Park Road, given by the late Mrs Alice Conway of the Swan Hotel to the people of Coleshill, where until recently the Sons of Rest had their allotments and bowling green, the latter being formed over the burial site.
