Herefordshire’s young writers are being encouraged to get creative, pick up their pens, and learn new skills that could see them becoming tomorrow’s professional authors.
Herefordshire Council’s library in Hereford is hosting two Writing West Midlands writing groups for young people aged 8 to 12 and 12 to 16 who are interested in creative writing. Whether it’s poems, plays, stories or blogs, the groups known as writing squads, will help young people develop their skills and gain confidence about their writing. They’re also great fun!
Writing Squads are part of a wider regional initiative to develop literature across the West Midlands. Hereford’s squads will be led by professional writer Brenda Read-Brown, with support from writer Deborah Alma. The groups meet monthly on Saturdays from 11am – 1pm (8-12 year olds) and 2pm to 4pm (12-16 year olds), with sessions on 24th September, 15th October, 26th November and 17th December 2011.
There is a session charge of £16 for 4 sessions or £5 per session if paid on the day.
To reserve a place or for more information please contact Joanne Penn at Writing West Midlands on 0121 246 2774 or joanne@writingwestmidlands.org.
